Merry Gold Rush Day Eve!

Noodling around while making some signs...

Our fourth grade celebrates California history by spending an entire day learning about the Gold Rush. Students dress up as forty-niners, and visit three different centers. Two pioneers (reenactors) bring their wagon, and discuss with the students what it was like to travel to California as an "overlander". We also make a yarn craft toy. Then, the students learn the Virginia Reel, and play games that were popular in the mid-1800's. Finally, the students learn how to pan for gold, and drink root beer. After lunchtime, we put on a play entitled "Gold Dust or Bust". It's a pretty wonderful day. Thanks to my fourth grade team for organizing and arranging everything! Here's to an awesome day for 90 kids!
