Too Much Poldark

Checking size and scale...

I love the 19th Century. It is one of my favorite periods in history. And, I love the literature of that era. I've read all of the Austens, and Brontes. My favorite Bronte is definitely, Anne. And, I've fallen in love with Elizabeth Gaskell, and Wilkie Collins. Then, there's Mr. Dickens. A few years ago, I started reading the Horatio Hornblower books by C.S. Forester. After many volumes, I felt like I could sign on as a midshipman, and start my apprenticeship at sea. Recently, I started reading the Poldark books by Winston Graham. After watching Masterpiece Theater, I knew that I had to read the books. I think that these plates are mined from somewhere in my brain that loves the 1800's. I am hoping to add some more patterned plates to the series for Open Studios.

Starting to layer colors...
Ready for the dark wash...
Plaid plates...
Winston is smiling...
